The ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS TIC is a two-part course that will enable participants to methosdically conduct training courses in accordance with ICAO''s instructor competencies and develop the required training straegies for course delivery. The TIC will train instructors to deliver STPs, based on the TRAINAIR PLUS methodology. as well as conventional courses.
After having successfully completed the TIC, the trainees will be able to:
prepare a training environment including facilities, equipment and instructional material;
manage the trainees by using effective training strategies;
conduct training with a variety of instructional methods as required for the training;
perform trainee assessments appropriately, objectively, and correctly; and
perform course evaluations effectively
The target population for the TIC is as follows:
pre-service and in-service instructiors with little or no formal training background;
aviation training instructors and professionals who are dedicated to the implementation of competency-based training programmes;
subject matter experts and specialists who wish to upgrade their instructional competencies; and
current instructiors who wish to refresh and upgrade their trainer competencies
The ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Training Managers Course (TMC) addresses the operational aspects of managing an aviation training organization that meets the required standards of operation, training delivery, and quality management. It will enable the participants to apply the ICAO training organization assessment guidelines in order to prepare their training organization to meet and maintain operational and quality standards for ICAO recognition.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to manage their operational teams to:
Identify requirements for the establishment of an aviation Training Organization;
Evaluate the level of compliance of a training centre with ICAO provisions
Develop an action plan to ensure compliance of a Training Organization with relevant international requirements

The Training Developers Course (TDC) is developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Global Aviation Training (GAT) Office and is offered to the aviation community on the premises of a TRAINAIR PLUS Member. The TDC will train civil aviation course developers to design and develop Standardized Training Packages (STPs), based on ICAO’s Training Development Guide, Competency based Training Methodology (Doc 9941).
The TDC is the core training activity of the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme. It is the main tool to consolidate the implementation of the Programme among Civil Aviation Training Centres (CATCs), with the creation of a team of updated and well trained professionals as course developers to work in Course Development Units
The course provides professionals with advanced techniques for applying the Instructional Systems Development methodology (ISD) under the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme. This is a complete instructional development workshop with focus on the practical aspects of developing training and educational programs. The course will train civil aviation course developers to design and develop Standardized Training Packages (STPs) for TRAINAIR PLUS competency-based training standards by either upgrading existing conventional courses developed by the CATC become an TP STP or create a new TP STP. After having successfully completed the course, the trainees will be able to identify the TRAINAIR PLUS training development methodological standards to:
Analyse training needs and choose strategies
Analyse jobs and target populations
Determine training objectives
Sequence objectives and group them into modules
Prepare and validate tests
Produce and validate training material
Assist in On the Job Training planning and monitoring
